Meet the designer

I'm an enthusiastic, dedicated UX Designer specializing in SaaS products. I love working in the space where creativity meets logic, where passion meets practicality, and where individual effort meets team collaboration.

In my free time I like to engage in art, writing, video games, and west coast swing.

Corporate work

UX designer with 8 years of experience in the B2B FinTech space. Most recently, I've worked as the princpal designer on a leading financial close platform servicing large enterprise clients, including Fortune 100 companies.

I've completed user research including needs-finding interviews, A/B testing, and validation studies, as well as created mockups and prototypes, developed design systems, and worked on POCs with engineering. From understanding frustrations and improving navigation, to increasing user control and streamlining automation tools, my work improved the user experience to save time and reduce stress every step of the way.

Design philosophy

Finding the root problems

Humans are solution minded – when presenting problems, customers often phrase it in the context of what they want to happen instead. In other words, they are presenting a solution or a feature. But by jumping straight to the end, they often obscure the full situation.

I believe strongly in doing research before accepting any feature request at face value. By talking to customers, by asking probing questions, you can unearth the root cause problems that are causing your customers frustration, and craft a solution that will truly solve their pain point, enabling them to reach their goals.

Collaborate and enable

I believe that true success is only achieved by working as a team - by staying humble, admitting when you don't have all the answers, and seeking out and incorporating the knowledge and wisdom that can be found in every department of the business.

Equally, I believe it is important that UX focuses not just on delivering their own vision, but also on empowering their team-mates cross-functionally.

A designer's client is the customer, yes, but it is also our team, and we should aim to deliver the best service possible.

Entwine dreams and reality

The truly ideal experience isn’t always possible. Sometimes it’s because technical capabilities haven’t caught up to the idea, sometimes it’s a time or resource consideration, sometimes it's simply not the best business decision when looking at all resources available. And yet, we keep chasing after the dream.

This is the careful balancing act a UX Designer needs to perform – to, on one hand, envision and design the true ideal experience for the customer but, on the other hand, translate the vision down into reality, and make the most of what is currently possible.
